"It didn't take long to discover that Ramallah was a confusing place. Maps were nonexistent and nothing seemed to follow any sort of logical layout. After several lengthy, confusing and expensive taxi rides I finally realised what the issue was: there was no such thing as an address. Instead, a frustratingly vague system was favoured, using nearby landmarks such as a government building or supermarket to describe where something was. I also learned these didn't have to be current - near where the Police Station used to be was a direction I once received. This piece honours the wonderfully colourful but confusing addresses I encountered as well as the beautiful, crumbling Ottoman architecture."
